CHARACTER STUDY

For actors looking to expand their range.  Explore working with more extreme character types while developing the ability to make choices in both the audition and rehearsal rooms.

Cost is $200 per student for six sessions

Meets weekly on Tuesday evenings from 7pm-8:30pm for 6 weeks.

INTRO TO SHAKESPEARE

For actors interested in learning the basics of performing Shakespeare’s work.  The course will include both monologue and scene coaching and will focus several plays from the Shakespeare canon.

Meets weekly on Thursday evenings from 7pm-8:30pm for 6 weeks.
(10/15, 10/22, 11/5. 11/12, 11/19, 12/3)

VOICE FOR ADULTS

Reconnect with your love of singing or brush up on your audition material. Open to both professional performers and those who love to sing. A supportive environment which encourages growth and exploration of the joy of music.

Meets on Mondays from 12:30pm-1:30pm
and Tuesdays from 4pm-5pm

Cost is $30 for a 30 minute session and $50 for an hour.

VOICE FOR YOUTH

Learn about music and the voice through master classes and individualized work. Open to young performers with singing experience and also those looking to explore the world of music for the first time.

Meets on Saturdays between 1pm-4pm

Cost is $30 for a 30 minute session and $50 for an hour.

About The Instructors
Sherz Aletaha Sherz, which is pronounced like more than one Cher, has been a professional singer for over ten years. Four years ago, she began sharing her love of music through teaching. Her goal and policy in her studio is always to create a supportive environment for her students where they can grow while exploring something that brings them joy, music. On stage, she was recently seen as Aldonza in Man of La Mancha (Triad Stage) and has had the pleasure of performing at The Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, in Prospect Theater Company’s Archetypes, in Off-Broadway, and Off-Off Broadway’s Disaster!, and at Dixon Place in Spring Alive (cast album available). On Camera work includes “The Detour,” “The First Wives Club,” “Three Trembling Cities,” “Wing Women,” “Insomnia,” and numerous commercials. Follow her at @morethanonecher.



Alice Renier Alice is an actor, teacher, and acting coach who specializes in working with heightened text.  She has worked with dozens of Shakespeare plays as both an actor and a coach.  She has facilitated workshops in countless schools throughout New York City, and served as a resident teaching artist for The Public Theater, Classic Stage Company, Red Bull Theater, and Acting Out!. Recently, she coached the first Broadway national tour of Bandstand, the national tour of American Girl: Live!, and Columbia University’s Young Company production of Romeo and Juliet. She received her Master of Fine Arts in Acting from Columbia University, holds a degree in Musical Theatre from the University of Tampa, and is a graduate of the National Theatre Institute. Her philosophy is grounded in a playful approach to performance and text.  We call it a play… so play!
