"Adventurous theater in Astoria"

-- The New York Times

Seeking interns to join our team!

Astoria Performing Arts Center was founded in 2001, and is devoted to providing award-winning professional theater to audiences in Western Queens, in addition to annual community performance programs for students and seniors. We produce two mainstage productions yearly under the Equity Showcase Code, and have been hailed by the New York Times for providing “adventurous theatre in Astoria.” Our professional productions often include revivals of rarely seen musicals and world premiere plays; our annual community programs include Playmaking, an afterschool playwriting program; Summer Stars, a free performance program for Queens residents ages 8-13; and Senior Stars, a performance program for Queens residents ages 60 and above. Our offices are located in Kaufman Astoria Studios, in the heart of Astoria’s Kaufman Arts District, and our theatre is located in the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church.

I am very interested in working with you all here at the Astoria Performing Arts Center. I would be applying for the Box Office manager position. This is a position i have held before while interning at the annual Southampton Stony Brook graduate writers conference. I have sent out and responded to many emails regarding a large variety of issues that theatre patrons might have. If this position is already filled I would be interested in any available stage hand positions. I also have acquired experience at the same internship (and a few small theatre gigs along the way) in backstage wrok, and some minor work on the sound board.
