With grant support from Council Member Peter Vallone Jr. and the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development, APAC was able to work with Horace Greeley Intermediate School to produce a full junior musical: Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Through an audition process, 40+ students in grades 6-8 were chosen to act in the musical. Rehearsals began on January 6th. There will be three rehearsals per week throughout the winter and spring. It is our goal to teach children the lessons of performance: self-confidence, responsibility, and the rewards of hard work. To complete a rigorous rehearsal process and receive recognition (literally, applause!) from their peers, parents and community gives the students a lasting experience of success. Other sponsors of the program included The Shubert Foundation and Music Theatre International.
