How did you arrive at APAC? What path brought you here?

About two years ago, I searched online for theaters in the community to offer a hand volunteering. APAC stood out and I emailed Executive Director Taryn Sacramone. Since then, I’ve been ushering, set-building, monitoring auditions, acting in the Playmaking program, handing out flyers…whatever they would have me do. It’s been a joy. Everyone’s really passionate about APAC and fun to work with.

Where can we find you when you’re not working? What’s your favorite way to spend a weekend or a Sunday afternoon?

You might find me jogging in Astoria park, discovering new neighborhoods on long walks with my husband, playing my flute or sleeping. A lot.

Where did you grow up and why aren’t you there now?

I was an Army brat born in Panama City (not to be confused with Florida), another metropolitan world hub surrounded by water, and moved practically every year in elementary school. We settled in Lancaster, PA and I had an eye for NYC after college. When I came to Astoria, I felt right at home. I feel spoiled having the park in which to run and watch beautiful sunsets across the river, and the amazing spectrum of cultures I encounter every day. And the food – don’t get me started. We are so fortunate!

Any volunteer activities you’re crazy about?

Please refer to question number one. I’m so thrilled that APAC has offered me the opportunity to become more involved.

Any awards or medals, or even medallions?

Once, I won first place and a CD for an Electric Slide dance contest I wasn’t even aware was taking place. I couldn’t resist just jumping in and dancing. Does that count? Oh, and I have two NYC Marathon medals.
