Story
It is springtime 1785, and in the enchanting drawing room of a London flat, a voluptuous little courtesan comes face to face with the exquisitely prim wife of her most cherished lover, the inexplicable object of the affections of all of London. Will our reckless little courtesan keep her love or will tiresome female perfection win out in the end? In this new comedy, guns are served up on silver platters, girlfriends hide their knickers in the umbrella stand, and all are impetuously hell bent on finding love (and cookies) at any cost.
Production History
Afterglow (A Comedie of Bad Manners) has been developed at New York Theatre Workshop and Aviles Street Productions and was a finalist at the O’Neill Playwright’s Conference. Afterglow also received readings with Homebase New York and The Production Company.

SARAH OVERMAN (Playwright) APAC debut. Afterglow (A Comedie of Bad Manners) was a finalist for the National Playwright’s Conference in 2007, and has received readings at New York Theatre Workshop, The Production Company, and Homebase New York. Her most recent play She’s Hot: A Comedy About Global Warming is a finalist for the 2011 National Playwright’s Conference. Ms. Overman’s historical drama Her Majesty the King premiered with Dramahaus New York at the HERE Arts Center in 2006. In 2002 her screenplay, Karizma, CA was a finalist for development with the Sundance Screenwriter’s Workshop. Also an actress, Sarah will be appearing in the new Kornbluth Bros film Love & Taxes, set for release in 2012. She also appeared in Haiku Tunnel (Sundance 2001, Sony Pictures Classics) as well as numerous plays. She holds an MFA in Acting from the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theatre.
