APAC Seeks Casting Intern (Unpaid) and Associate Production Manager (Paid)
The Astoria Performing Arts Center (APAC), Astoria’s premier professional theater currently seeks a Casting Intern and Associate Production Manager for its 2011 upcoming AEA showcase production (approval-pending) of the musical THE HUMAN COMEDY by Galt MacDermot & William Dumaresq. Director: Tom Wojtunik.
Position Details
1. CASTING INTERN
The Casting Intern reports directly to APAC’s casting director, wojcik|seay casting (Scott Wojcik & Gayle Seay), helping to:
- Organize and schedule submissions
- Put out appointment and callback calls
- Disseminate sides/music and otherwise organize the process
The Casting Intern is required to be available for all casting dates: 3/1, 3/2, 3/6, 3/7, 3/8, 3/9, 3/15, 3/16 (evenings); 3/5, 3/12 (days).
THERE IS NO PAY FOR THIS POSITION.
This is a terrific opportunity for someone interested in casting to connect with a professional casting office and theater company.
2. ASSOCIATE PRODUCTION MANAGER
The APM’s responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the planning of and overseeing load-in of all technical departments
- Working with APAC staff to find and organize crew, including volunteers
- Overseeing safety onsite during load-in and tech
- Being a presence during load-in and tech to answer questions and help with any technical problems
Pre-production begins immediately, Load-in starts 3/26 and continues through opening 5/5. The show runs through 5/28, with a strike on 5/29. On-site work happens weeknights and weekends.
There is a $200 stipend for the position.
