APAC held its Annual Gala on April 1, 2015 at the Museum of the Moving Image, honoring Majority Leader Jimmy Van Bramer and President of Rodgers and Hammerstein Ted Chapin.

Ted Chapin
Ted Chapin is president of Rodgers & Hammerstein, the organization that manages and controls the creative output of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. Together, the two men changed the world of musical theater, starting with Oklahoma! and continuing through The Sound of Music. This season in New York, their work has been represented by Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella on Broadway, and Allegro at Classic Stage Company, which was also presented last season by APAC. This spring Lincoln Center Theater opens a new production of The King and I. The company also represents works by others, including all the work of Irving Berlin. Chapin sits on several boards, including New York City Center and Goodspeed Musicals. He was the chairman of the Encores! Advisory Committee from the inception of Encores! He ran The Musical Theatre Lab, was directorial or production assistant on the original Broadway productions of The Rothschilds, The Unknown Soldier and His Wife, The Sunshine Boys, and Follies. His book, Everything Was Possible: The Birth of the Musical Follies, published by Alfred A. Knopf in 2003, won an ASCAP/Deems Taylor Award and a Special Jury Prize for Distinguished Achievement by the Theatre Library Association and is available from Applause Books.
Majority Leader Jimmy Van Bramer 
A life long resident of Western Queens, Jimmy Van Bramer has been a member of the New York City Council since 2009, and was elected Majority Leader in 2014. Council Member Van Bramer’s career has been devoted to making our community stronger and making life better for Queens families. He serves as chair of the Council’s Cultural Affairs, Libraries and International Intergroup Relations Committee. As Chair of the committee, he has direct oversight over 200 libraries and thousands of cultural organizations, institutions and programs throughout New York City. He has been a longtime fan and supporter of APAC.
